Internal Bleaching

Internal Bleaching for post-root canal

Brighten a darkened tooth from the inside—safe, effective, and ideal for post-root canal discoloration.

The Process

After your root canal, we place a whitening agent inside the tooth and seal it temporarily. You'll return after 1–2 weeks to evaluate the shade. We may repeat the process until it blends with your smile, then seal it with a permanent filling.

The Results

Internal bleaching can dramatically improve the appearance of a darkened tooth. With proper restoration, results are long-lasting and cosmetic—not just functional.

Care Tips After Whitening

  • Maintain good oral hygiene with gentle brushing

  • Avoid staining foods (coffee, red wine) during treatment

  • Return for shade evaluation promptly—over-bleaching can reduce effectiveness

  • Once sealed, treat the tooth as usual during routine care

Why Choose Town Center Dental

We use precise protocols to safely lighten individual teeth with minimal intervention. Our goal is to restore your smile’s harmony without compromising tooth strength or aesthetics.

What is Internal Bleaching?

This treatment whitens a tooth internally. Following a root canal, a special gel (typically sodium perborate) is placed inside the tooth to lighten discoloration that external whitening cannot resolve.

Benefits of Internal Bleaching

  • Targets deep stains invisible to external whitening

  • Restores color to match adjacent teeth

  • Avoids the need for reconstructive treatments like crowns

  • Fast and minimally invasive

When It’s Recommended

  • Tooth appears dark after root canal therapy

  • Stubborn internal staining from injury or old filling

  • A single tooth doesn’t match surrounding teeth

  • Desire to preserve natural tooth structure
